Abdollahi
Dr. Kamran
Abdollahi is a Professor of Ecophysiology & Urban and
Community Forestry in the Department of Urban Forestry
at SU. He is an affiliate researcher to the Center for
Energy and Environmental studies, NASA University Center
for Coastal Zone Assessment and Remote Sensing at SU. In
addition, Dr. Abdollahi is a research scientist with the
SU Agricultural Research and Extension Center and an
affiliate researcher with the Louisiana State University
Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Dr.
Abdollahi is currently directing several NASA, USDA,
EPA, Ford Foundation, and USDA-FS funded projects and
laboratories. He has been an author, co-author and
editor for more than 50 peer reviewed publications
including five nationally and internationally recognized
books.
Dr. Abdollahi’s research has been focusing on
environmental health assessment, remediation,
reclamation, monitoring, preservation, and remote
sensing. In addition, he has been working on
ecophysiology of urban ecosystems. He has been involved
with more than 8 national projects ranging from urban
and community forestry to phytoremediation, ecotourism,
urban national park management, water resource
management, national fire plan and large scale
watershed, air quality improvement, biomass and energy,
coastal restorations, geographic information system &
remote sensing.
Dr. Abdollahi has served as an advisor and executive
board member to the Unite States Secretary of
Agriculture (NUCFAC), National Association of State
Universities and Land Grant Colleges, Ecology Section (NASULGC),
Society of American Foresters (SAF), International
Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Louisiana Urban Forestry
Council (LUFC), Baton Rouge Green, Gulf Coast
Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (GC-CESU), and the
Gulf Coast Climate Change Assessment Program.
Dr. Abdollahi has been awarded best teacher of the year,
outstanding researcher, and more than 15 state,
regional, national, and international merit awards.
