Michael A. Stubblefield, Ph.D. ˇV Director
Doctorate of Philosophy in  Engineering Science

Dr. Stubblefield is currently an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Director of the Centers of Excellence Program, which includes: - The Center for Energy and Environmental Studies (CEES), The Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), and The Center for Coastal Zone Assessment and Remote Sensing (CCZARS) at Southern University. CITI is the SUBR component of the Governorˇ¦s IT.  He serves as the Southernˇ¦s representative on the state Louisiana Optical Network Initiative Advisory Board, a $40M IT investment by the state of Louisiana. CCZARS is a NASA funded center that was funded at $6 million over five years. CCZARS provides Remote Sensing Applications and Training and GIS/GPS data collection and warehousing. Dr. Stubblefield has over 15 years of experience in project management, project development and contract management.  He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Southern University in 1991 and received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering Science from LSU in 1997, the first ever African-American. Michael has a continuing developing research background, as well as experience in human resource development activities, e.g. undergraduate research programs and precollege outreach activities
